Azikiwe Uche

Azikiwe Uche; Lecturer, administrator and wife of Nigeria’s first president, Nnamdi Azikiwe, born  on February 4, 1947 in Ogui, Enugu State. Uche schooled at Salvation Army School, Ogui, Enugu, Ajeromi Central School, Lagos, Presbyterian School, Afikpa, Ebonyi State, Queen of the Rosary Secondary School, Abakaliki and University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, Enugu State. She started her career as an executive officer, Enugu State Education Commission and later as an research fellow I, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, senior lecturer, on sabbatical to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.

Azikiwe was at different times a director, Anambra Motor Manufacturing Company, ANAMCO, Enene; vice-president. Curriculum Organization of Nigeria Network for Women’s Studies in Nigeria; Nigeria Educational Research Association. A coordinator, of Organizational Strategies Committee Network since 1996. Azikiwe is a recipient of the traditional title of Iyom Enyi Nwaonaku of Otu Odu society of Onitsha. She authored the women Education and Empowerment; Women in Nigeria, An Annotate Bibliography, Teaching and Learning of Language[i].
