Olumo, meaning, “the lord ends our travail”, is rock in the city of Abeokuta so named because of its usefulness as military fortress to Egba people from 1832 to 1862. The rock, standing at a thousand feet above sea level, is the highest among the rocks that bisect Abeokuta into two. This natural landmark, adopted as a screen logo by the local national network television (NTA Channel 12 Abeokuta) is an important tourist centre in the town. The Ogun River can be viewed form the peak of this rock. A network of metal staircase, railings, and elevator has been provided in modern times, easing the access to the top of the rock.
