LitCaf Encyclopedia is designed to afford Nigerians the platform to define the world through the eyes of their local orientation, thereby giving a fresh perspective to knowledge. You will find below, information that will help you understand how LitCaf Encyclopedia works.

By using or accessing LitCaf, you agree to the following terms as updated from time to time.

PRIVACY POLICY OF LITCAF

Our privacy policy explains what information we collect, why we collect them, how we use such information, the choices we offer, including how to access and update information.

INFORMATION THAT WE GET FROM YOUR USE OF OUR SERVICES We may collect information about the services that you use and how you use them, such as when you visit a website that uses our advertising services or you view and interact with our ads and content. This information includes: I. LOG INFORMATION When you use our services or view contents provided by LitCaf, we may automatically collect and store certain information in server logs. This invariably includes details of how you used our services, such as your search queries. II. UNIQUE APPLICATION NUMBERS Certain services may include an application number. This number and information about your uploads (for example, the operating system type and application number) may be sent to LitCaf when you install or uninstall that service or when the service periodically contacts our servers, such as for automatic updates. III. LOCATION INFORMATION When you use a location-enabled LitCaf service, we may collect and process information about your actual location such as GPS signals sent by a mobile device, for the purpose of providing interesting nuggets on that location. We may also use various technologies to determine locations such as sensor data from your device that may, for example, provide information on nearby Wifi access point and mobile towers.

HOW WE USE THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We may use the information we collect in their original character or we may improve on them thereby developing new ones to provide and meet the needs of our users as well as LitCaf. We also use these information to offer you tailored contents, as such, giving you more relevant search results and ads.

We may use the name that you provide for your LitCaf profile across all the services we offer that require a profile.

In addition, we may replace past names associated with your LitCaf profile so that you are represented consistently across all our services. If other users already have your email or other information that identifies you, we may show them your publicly visible LitCaf profile information such as your name and photo.

Your every submission under the Encyclopedia service offered by us may be utilized as if they were the original properties of LitCaf. This is to say that when you submit articles, photos, or videos (whether on yourself, or somebody else who may or may not be a public figure), or things, or any work of any category whatsoever, you would be assumed to have the right to do so; that you have not infringed on any other intellectual property law that may be covering such uploads/information and that you have waived your existing rights to either be the sole custodian or sole distributor of such uploaded information, giving LitCaf the permission to use them for its purposes.

In other words, LitCaf is at liberty to distribute/re-publish on any other site or through any other medium of expression (software or hard copy) any material you upload on its website without being said to have infringed on any intellectual property law covering such mentioned materials.

Any material submitted at the website of LitCaf or at its office may be edited, improved on, and/or may be used to develop new ones. LitCaf reserves the right to conduct seminars, using any material/ work you send to it.

All literatures submitted to LitCaf or under any service it renders is open to the view of other subscribers of LitCaf.

When you contact LitCaf, we may keep a record of your communication to help resolve any issue that you may eventually encounter. We may also use your email address to inform you of all upcoming changes or improvements on our services.

When showing you tailored ads, we will not associate a cookie or anonymous identifier with sensitive categories, such as those based on race, religion, sexual orientation or health.

We may combine personal information from one service with information including personal information from other LitCaf services to make it easier to share things with people you know. We will not combine doubleclick cookie information with personally identifiable information unless we have your opt-in consent. We will ask for your consent before using information for a purpose other than those set out in this privacy policy.

INFORMATION THAT YOU SHARE

Many of our services let you share information with others. Remember that when you share information or exchange articles publicly, it may be indexable by search engines, including LitCaf. Our services DOES NOT provide you with options of removing your published submissions, except if request is made to that effect which we are not obliged to grant. Our services however provides you with various options for removing your posts.

ACCESSING AND UPDATING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Whenever you use any of our services we aim to provide you with access to your personal information. We may ask you to verify your identity before we can act on any of your requests. Where we can provide information access and correction, we will do it free of charge, except where it would require a disproportionate effort. We aim to maintain our services in a manner that protects information from accidental or malicious destruction. Because of this, after you delete information from our services, we may not immediately delete residential copies from our active servers and may not remove information from our backup systems.

INFORMATION THAT WE SHARE

We do not share sensitive personal information with companies, organizations or individuals outside LitCaf unless we have your consent to so do. We require opt-in consent for sharing of any sensitive personal information.

FOR LEGAL REASONS, we will share personal information with companies, organizations or individuals outside LiTcaf if we have a belief in good faith that access, use, preservation or disclosure of such information is reasonably necessary to:

a) Meet any applicable law, regulations, legal process or enforceable governmental requests.
b) Enforce applicable terms of service, including investigations of potential violations.
c) Detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues.
d) Protect against harm to the rights, properties or safety of LitCaf, our users or the public as required or permitted by law.

We may share aggregated, non-personally identifiable information publicly and with our partners such as publishers, advertisers or connected sites. For example, we may share information publicly to show trends about the general use of our services.

We review our information collection, storage and processing practises including security measures to guard against unauthorized access to systems.

We restrict access to personal information to LitCaf employees, contractors, and agents who need to know that information in other to process it for us and who are subject to strict contractual confidentiality obligations. They may be disciplined or their contract terminated if they fail to meet these obligations.

APPLICATION

Our privacy policy applies to all of the services offered by LitCaf and its affiliates including services offered on other sites such as our advertising services but exclude services with separate privacy policies that do not incorporate this privacy policy.

DISCLAIMER

LITCAF WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE for any alleged infringement on any COPYRIGHT law whatsoever, covering any material, information or literature uploaded and utilized on its site by users of its site as it is believed that you have the legal ground and backing to so upload such materials, information, or literature and that you have not infringed on any other person’s exclusive rights on such information.

LitCaf will not be responsible for any misuse, accidental or malicious destruction of articles beyond its control. LitCaf is an online Encyclopedia. It is a voluntary association where people of various and diverse fields of study meet to present ideas in order to develop a common resource of human knowledge.

The structure of the project allows anyone with an internet connection to make submission, with the hope that it would be published. There is no obligation on part of LitCaf that such submissions will be published or stored in its systems or archives.

NO FORMAL PEER REVIEW

LitCaf is not uniformly peer reviewed. While there is mechanism for the correction of errors and while means of peer review will be progressively improved upon, individuals or institutions involved in this have no legal duty to do so. All information read here are consequently without any implied warranty of fitness for any purpose or use whatsoever.

Nevertheless, be rest assured you will most of the time find valuable and accurate information in LitCaf.

Be advised however that LitCaf cannot guarantee the validity of the information found here and as such, will not be responsible or held liable in any tortious claim.

None of the contributors, sponsors, administrators or anyone else connected with LitCaf in any way whatsoever can be responsible for the appearance of any inaccurate or libelous information or for your use of the information contained in or linked from these web pages.
